VEG-FOOT WEAR

Step on out with Eco-friendly fashionable shoes.  Some of the fabrics Muambi-based freelance designer, Sarita Meena, uses for her collections are natural-dyed bamboo, organic cotton, and hemp linen cotton. She not only uses these textiles to make garments but shoes, handbags, belts, and other accessories. Sarita Meena says, "Natural fabrics have good properties, which protect the body during harsh summers, by absorbing sweat. They are so versatile that in summer, they cool the body and in the winters they keep it warm." NOW THAT IS AFRO-VEG CHIC!!

Honestly Vegan?

There is a new fashion forward vegan designer making it is way through the internet. The former designer of Hugo Boss, Bruno Pieters, has taken fashion into his own hands calling his online boutique Honest By. Bruno is offering consumers an eco-way of dressing fashion forward. Recipe of the Day

Being from the Islands, I've learned how to make a vegan lifestyle more appealing to me. By the combining different herbs and spices from my culture led me to create healthy and tasty recipes for everyone! One of my favorite is Ackee and Tofu. Most people from the Islands known ackee to be eaten with salt fish. However I took the fish out and coordinated to my new way of life.

Ackee and Tofu

Ingredients:

1 can of corn

1 can of lima beans

2 cups of chopped onions

1 cup of chopped bell peppers

2 cups of tomato sauce

1 can of ackee

1 pack of firm Tofu

½ a cup of chopped garlic

1 tbsp of black pepper

1 tsp of salt

1 tbsp of garlic powder

1 cup of vegetable oil

Instructions:

Step 1: First heat up the oil in the deep fryer. If you don’t have a deep fryer, you can use a regular pot to fry the tofu.

Step 2: Then cut the block of tofu into medium-squared shapes. While the oil is hot; place the tofu into the deep fryer. Cook until the tofu is a golden brown color.

Step 3: In a skillet, sauté the corn, lima beans, chopped onions, chopped bell peppers, and chopped garlic until it is lightly browned.

Step 4: Stir in the tomato sauce. Then add salt, pepper, and garlic powder.

Step 5: Mix in the ackee and tofu. Let it simmer for 10 minutes.

You can serve this with brown rice, boiled potatoes, boiled yams, or green banana. You can also add a salad to your meal to get a balanced live-it.

Enjoy a healthy way of living!
